So the other day I was working on a long-overdue update for my website when my wife came into our home office and, looking over my shoulder at the computer screen, uttered a barely perceptible “huh” followed by, “You’re doing it wrong. That should be a blog.”
“Oh thank you, my lovely rose, my ever-loving gum drop," I mocked. This was a contention I’d be justified in overlooking since these days she practically lives in blogville. She even works there, having created a successful business writing and maintaining estate planning blogs for a number of attorneys across the nation.
"You should totally do it! You have am interesting job…kind of. And you can write stuff…sort of. Anyway, you could probably get somebody out there to read it." Yeah, thanks for that, Babe. I rolled my eyes, shooed her out of the office and figured that’d be the end of that. However, a few days later I found I was actually pondering the prospect…even envisaging a light and whimsical narrative with a droll title like, “the practical pixeler.” Yet I couldn’t help but wonder if I did start writing a blog would anyone really read it? Could I keep up with adding regular posts? And when it came down to it, did I really have all that much to say?
I'm not sure when it clicked over, but at some point I decided to give it a go (well obviously, since here we are). My blog-ustrious wife told me that a good place to start is to utilize the first post of the blog as a way to establish the mission statement. So with that in mind, here goes:
The Practical Pixeler! (or something equally as clever) I’ve been an artist, game designer and director of videogames since 1993. My current weapon of choice is the Nintendo DS. My goal here is to share thoughts and ideas about games, the game industry and in general, life in Southern California.
There you have it. If you like videogames and promise to check back once-in-a-while, I'll do my best to give you something interesting to chew on.
